Schools Without Affiliation Asked To Return Fees
A day after Rajkot police lodged a series of complaints against different school authorities and arrested five for violating norms for affiliation to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Rajkot district collector Vikrant Pandey on Friday held meeting with head of CBSE affiliated schools in the city and officials of education department to find solutions to accommodate affected students to other affiliated schools.
According to sources, Pandey has assured parents of four schools -Dholakia School, Modi School, Virani School and Saint Mary School -which admitted students under CBSE without having the affiliation. The students will be shifted to other schools with CBSE affiliation.
On Thursday, five persons including two school principals and three administrators were arrested for allegedly cheating and violating norms for admitting students under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) courses without having the affiliation with the board.
Those arrested were include Krishnakant Dholakia, owner of KG Dholakia School; Saint Paul, one of the trustees of Saint Merry School; Father Williams, principal of Saint Merry School; Rasmikant Modi and Himanshu Patel of PV Modi School. Modi is administrator while Patel is the principal.
According to sources, three are around 1,000 school children who need to be shifted to other schools.
“There are 11 CBSE schools in Rajkot which have shown readiness to accommodate the affected students by charging nominal fees. Meanwhile, Rajkot district administration have asked all schools which have violated norms, to returned fees to children. They have been warned of stern action if fees are not returned,“ said an official of Rajkot collectorate.
